What can a veterinary X-ray show in dogs and cats?
Veterinary X-rays can help identify health problems that may not be visible during a physical examination. Depending on the area being examined, radiology may help veterinarians identify broken bones, arthritis, joint disorders, swallowed foreign objects, and certain chest and abdominal conditions.
If a pet has symptoms or a medical concern, the veterinarian can review the pet’s symptoms and medical history and perform a physical examination. Based on those findings, the veterinarian can determine whether imaging is needed to better understand the condition.
X-ray results can then be reviewed and interpreted to help veterinarians make appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations.
