Tips and Tricks regarding subreddit rules and moderation?
I am taking a very careful and deliberately slow approach to building two communities around AEO / AI as it became a hobby of mine ever since I started working for a company focusing on exactly this area. The lack of communities with proper non-AI content made me take the initial step to try and build my own.
So before I start opening these subreddits up I want to make sure that everything is perfect in terms of rules and moderation. I am seeking any experienced help with setting up proper rules and systems / knowledge about finding good mods etc.
I am mostly worried about:
-
Low Quality AI posts. I am ok with the usage of AI to proofread and help create a post, but I don't want generic AI posts like I see on other subreddits. What are some tips / tricks to properly enforce this?
-
Bots. This is kind of the same thing as the low quality AI posts, I'm worried about bot traffic. Mostly because these communities are a hobby project of mine, so I won't have much time working on them.
-
Even though I'm affiliated with a company (I was a lurker before I created an account), I want to make sure that these communities stay objective and focus mostly on research/topics/discussions. And don't spiral into any kind of promotion (that includes the company that I work for).
-
This is a follow up to the previous post, self promotion is problematic, but I fully understand that certain companies might still have a blogpost with relevant content, so what are the best practices (gained from experience) in distinguishing this from something that's actually just blatant self-promotion?
-
Finding the right moderators that will keep the content clean.
Thank you in advance for any tips!
