Sanity check - change of OneDrive folder name

Hi all,

Google fu is failing me and good ol’ AI is conflicting with itself, so looking for confirmation of this process in the year 2026…

Our OneDrive folders on client PCs include our full length company name, which occasionally leads to long path issues. We’d like to shorten the company name shown to help with this.

It seems previously this was possible by editing the org name in the org profile section of 365 admin centre. But this now appears not to be possible, requiring filling out a form to request a legal entity update instead.

Before I go down this route, can anyone confirm that’s definitely required, or is there another method of changing the OneDrive folder path company name?
