Should I buy new or used/refurbished

Ok so I’m actually dying to get a psvita and I’m so so so regretting a few years back when they weren’t discontinued and I ended up buying a psp instead of the vita (ugh)
I’m just wondering is it worth it to go for those brand new unopened more expensive ones ? I want the console to last as long as possible - and I feel like new & shiny might be a good choice but if its going to last and work the same as a used one then what’s the point ? What do u guys think
