I’ve been on fluvoxamine for about 18 months. I started on 50, then 100, then 150. Prior to that I’d been on citalopram for around 15 years. Changed to Luvox based on Psychiatrist advice that it might help with night sweats (perimenopause 😫🙄).

Anyways, I’ve never really thought Luvox was helping ‘enough’. About 12 months ago my anxiety was off the charts which is when we increased from 100 - 150mg, I didn’t really notice a change. No also started HRT at this time which I think helped a bit. I got to the ‘this is just how it is and I need to just deal with it ‘ stage and pushed through.

About a month ago I saw my GP and told her that I felt Luvox wasn’t really doing anything at all and I wanted: needed to try something else. She’s all over the hormonal stuff but we spoke about switching from an ssri to a snri. I’m open to it and we’re going to try it.

Keen to hear from others who have switched from Luvox to an SNRI (I think she’s thinking Effexor). I have GAD, not so much depression. My anxiety peaks and combined with peri it’s just become the perfect storm.

Anyways - anyone gone from an SSRI to an SNRI? How did you find it ? Would love to hear the good, bad and ugly.

For context - I’m 46, female, in Australia.

Thanks !
