Prepping for postpartum + breastfeeding

Need Advice

I unfortunately do not have anyone around my age that have children so I have no one to turn to for practical advice (and my mothers advice to just kinda deal with it seems outdated 😀), so here I am.

I’m 22, it’s my first baby and I’m still in university. I plan on exclusively breastfeeding if circumstances also cooperate. I’m wondering what I’ll need for when I’m away though. I don’t know my schedule yet but i might need to be away from baby for 3-4 hours? I worry about my supply if I don’t pump in that timeframe but I’m also not keen on carrying around heavy equipment in university. Moms who pump outside of home, I’d love to hear your experience and advice. I’d like to carry as little as possible and get a comfortable pump. On the same note, what do you wear postpartum? I’m looking into nursing bras but haven’t been able to understand what kind of tops would come in handy. Any advice on dressing yourself well and practically would be much appreciated too!

Last but not least, I plan on delivering my baby without having a C-section (if all goes well, of course) and I’m curious about the videos I’ve seen of people putting ice packs in their underwear? I have a Caucasian mother and she’d flip out on me at the thought of anything cold coming near my lower body so putting an ice pack there came as a bit of a shock. Also witch hazel and different balms and so on? I don’t know how necessary those things actually are for real life situations (as much of what I see is from influencer moms possibly trying to sell me more products). Mothers who delivered naturally, I’d love to hear what actually came in handy (like peri bottles, pads, maternity underwear etc;) thank you!
