Building a shelter for the cats I've been caring for in Tunisia

For several years, I've been taking care of rescued and abandoned cats in different places around my area in northern Tunisia.

There are more than 40 cats that I regularly look after, but they are scattered between several locations. Some live around an old family house, others near agricultural areas, and a few were left behind after I had to leave a rented property.

For a long time, I wanted to create one safe place where I could finally bring them together.

That project is now becoming a reality.

I obtained the necessary permit and started building a small shelter on family agricultural land. The main structure is almost finished, and I'm now working on the remaining details: flooring, painting, fencing, doors, water storage and the cat room.

It has taken much longer than I expected, and there have been plenty of delays and unexpected problems along the way. But after years of looking after these cats in scattered locations, seeing the shelter slowly taking shape is a very special feeling.

The goal is simple: not a cage or a place to lock cats away, but a safe home where the cats I've been caring for can finally live together.

Hopefully, the first cats will be able to move in soon.
