EU4 vs EU5. Which one do you prefer and why?

Discussion

I spent more than 1000h on EU4, it was my first Paradox games and I immediately fell in love with the complexity and the chance to change the history. I modded the hell out of this game and spent hundreds of hours on those alone.

I was super excited for EU5, but... It kinda felt plain and overly complexed for no reason. I liked the new population system, the removal of mana points, but blobbing became super hard, economy is brutal and there are so many new buildings. Earning money is no longer straightforward like before "build X to receive Y amount of gold", no, now you have to consider the demand and supply and stuff like that. Sure, you can automate it all, but if you do, what's there for you to play.

I haven't played EU4 from the start, so not sure if it was in a similar state upon release, maybe we need a couple of more years of DLCs and updates for EU5 until it's in a proper state.

What are your thoughts so far?
