A Swedish girl I met on Reddit suddenly disappeared — what happened?

A few days ago, I met a girl on Reddit who told me she was from Sweden. We started talking, and honestly, we really enjoyed talking to each other. We had quite a lot in common — similar hobbies, similar ways of thinking, and just a really good connection.

After talking on Reddit for a while, I suggested moving to another platform because Reddit messaging can be pretty shit sometimes. I asked about her number or Instagram. She said there was some issue with her number and that she didn’t have Instagram, so she actually created a new Instagram account and gave it to me. We moved over there and continued talking

Everything was going well. We talked for a while, enjoyed each other’s company, joked around, flirted a little, and generally had a good time

Because of the time difference between where I live and Sweden, eventually I had to go to sleep. I said goodnight to her, and she responded normally and nicely. Nothing seemed wrong at all

Then suddenly… nothing

The next day, I didn’t hear from her. I thought maybe she was busy or something had happened, so I didn’t think too much about it

Then another day passed

I checked Instagram — nothing.

So I went back to Reddit to see if she was there, and I noticed that her Reddit account had been deleted.

Now it’s been around three days, and I’m just thinking:what the fuck happened?

Someone can literally be talking to you normally one night, everything seems completely fine, and then the next day they’re just gone. No explanation, no goodbye, nothing.

Maybe something happened in her personal life. Maybe she has some problem going on that I know nothing about. If that’s the case, completely fine. I genuinely hope she’s okay, and I wouldn’t blame her for disappearing if she had a real reason.

I also have some photos of her from our conversations. I could post them and probably make it easier for people to know who I’m talking about, but I don’t have her permission to share her photos publicly, so I’m not going to do that. Whatever happened, I still think people’s privacy deserves some basic respect.

But if none of that happened and she simply wanted to have some fun, attention, or entertainment for a few days and then disappear without a word…

That’s not how you treat someone you’ve been talking to and building a connection with. At the very least, have enough respect to say you’re no longer interested.

I’m not trying to find her or expose her or anything like that. I’m just genuinely confused about what happened and wondering if this kind of thing is common when people meet online, especially on Reddit.

If anyone from Sweden has some perspective on this kind of behaviour, I’m genuinely curious to hear it.
