Thank you to everyone posting about getting offline to do wholesome shit like reading books
It finally filtered through enough to influence me and I am so despairing of the news and the infernal artifice in my pocket that streams a constant algorithmic nightmare into my brain. I thought i was too permanently brain damaged to hold my attention on anything long enough to do anything meaningful but today i went to a bookshop and bought a copy of East of Eden. Spent the afternoon reading in silence. I'm about 120 pages in and already feel far less despondent than if I'd spent the day looking at posts, watching YouTube clips, and gaming. Thanks to all the earnest folk here, i was dismissive and cynical but you might actually be onto something here
