My team currently has an agreement not to open MRs larger than 2k lines. Lately I've noticed that large MRs rarely get a real review: teammates skim and approve, and honestly even the author may not fully understand every change. So I'm thinking of lowering the limit to around 700 lines (excluding tests/generated files).
For context: TypeScript, ~100k LOC, 3 devs on a team.
Do your teams have a size limit? Is it a hard rule or a guideline? And how do you handle features that are naturally big?
UPD: thanks everyone for responding. I ended up adding a gitlab job to check every mr that it has no more than 7000 lines of code (excluding .md, test and lock files) with an ability to explicitly overwrite it (for renames, etc). Will see how it goes
