Everything EventQuiz does right now: four modes, three question types, and what the room actually sees

Pinned

I build EventQuiz and I run events with it myself, so this post is the honest inventory rather than a brochure. If something below is unclear or missing, say so in the comments, that is what this sub is for.

The short version: you put the questions on a projector or a TV, people answer from their own phones with a PIN and a nickname. No app, no account for players, nothing to install.

The four modes

You pick the mode when you create the game, not later.

  • Quiz is the normal one: points, faster answers score more, streaks, leaderboard between questions and at the end.
  • Survivor knocks people out. A wrong answer costs a life (you choose 1 to 3, default 2), the big screen counts down how many are still standing, and the game ends when one person is left. It changes the room: people go quiet when the counter drops.
  • Survey has no points and no right answers. Answers are anonymous and the bars fill in on the big screen while people vote. Good for feedback, temperature checks and opening questions.
  • Lucky Draw has no questions at all. People join the room, and when you press the button the screen spins the nicknames and stops on a winner. Nobody is drawn twice until everyone has been, so three prizes go to three different people.

Question types

  • Single answer, the usual four options.
  • Multiple correct answers in one question.
  • Closest number. No options at all: the room types a number on their phones, and the closest guess takes the points, second gets 70 percent, third 50. The correct number does not appear on the screen while the question is open, and when it closes the screen shows the number and the three closest players by name.

Any question can carry a picture. It shows on the projector and on your host screen; phones only get a hint to look at the big screen, which is deliberate so a thousand phones do not fetch the same image at once.

Building the game

  • Write questions yourself, or let AI write them: pick one of eight topics (general knowledge, world geography, science and nature, business and technology, food and drink, film and TV, music, sport) and you get ten questions ordered easy to hard. Every one is editable and any single question can be swapped for a new one. It does not do company specific topics.
  • PIN is yours to choose or the system assigns a free one, so you can put it on a slide days in advance.
  • Time per question and manual or automatic pace: either you press Next when the room is ready, or it runs on the clock.
  • Shuffle answers per quiz. It is shuffled once per session, so every phone and the screen show the same order and "the answer under B" still means something.
  • Ask for more than a nickname at join: name, surname and company, each optional. Off by default, because nickname only keeps the privacy footprint small. What you collect lands in the CSV, never on the big screen.

While the game runs

  • The lobby screen shows a QR code and the PIN. People scan it or type eventquiz.app and the PIN.
  • After every question the screen shows how the room answered, with percentages per option, before the leaderboard.
  • Nicknames are filtered like PINs are, so a rude name does not end up in font size 150 on a wall in front of your client.
  • One nickname per room, one entry per device, and you can kick anyone who slips through.
  • Restart clears the room and starts the same quiz again, for the second group of the day.
  • If someone's phone dies or the browser reloads, they rejoin and keep their score.

After the game

  • Export CSV with every answer. It appears once the session is over and it stays available later, from the host screen and from Past results.
  • Past results break a session down question by question: how many answered, how many got it right, and which wrong option they picked. That is the part that tells you which question was badly worded.
  • Shareable recap link: a frozen snapshot you can send to the client or post in a channel. It lives for 90 days and you can revoke it.
  • Survey sessions export and recap as aggregates, not as rows per person.

Branding

On the Annual plan the event name, colour and logo go on the TV screen, the player phones and the recap. On Event Pass they do not, which is the honest difference between the two.

Ready made quizzes

There is a first one: a Christmas party quiz, 15 questions with answers, free to read, print or steal for your own slides, and a button that copies the whole thing into an account with a PIN already assigned: https://eventquiz.app/christmas-party-quiz

If you want a theme that is not there, comment or write to support@eventquiz.app. The Christmas one exists because somebody asked.

Size, privacy, price

  • Measured, not estimated: 1,000 players in one room, 20,000 answers, none dropped, full archive written in 21 seconds.
  • Players give a nickname and nothing else unless you ask for more. Data sits in Cloudflare's European region.
  • Free trial: email only, no card. 24 hours counted from your first live session, up to 10 players per game, two AI written quizzes.
  • Event Pass: 39 USD once, 72 hours of live time, as many sessions inside it as you want, no player limit.
  • Annual: 299 USD a year, unlimited events, plus branding.
  • Nothing renews on its own and there is no monthly fee. Refund within 14 days, no questions asked.

What I would like from this sub

Tell me what breaks, what is missing, and what you had to work around in whatever tool you use now. The last five features shipped in the order people asked for them: pictures in questions, the answer spread after each question, the lucky draw, the closest number question, and the ready made quiz page. Feature requests here get read by the person who writes the code, because that is one person.
