Is there an actual use for pinging?

Not trying to be funny but I really dont thing pings are that useful in game. I don't feel like teamates usually ever listen to them and at worse it tilts people even if it was unintentional. I feel like out of 1000000 pings used maybe a handful communicate something actually valuable and is actually recieved by the intended parties and that info is capitalized on.

I feel personally I always play the game better on deafen. No noise to distract me and I can actually focus on my own gameplay. I hate listening to teamates, most of the time it gets me killed so I'd rather the silence.
