Does the Steam version force the Purple launcher on you?

I didn't manage to play any tests in the past, so I'm not sure how this works.

If you get the game on Steam (ofc recommended), does it do a 'ubisoft / EA thing' where sure you launch from Steam, but ultimatley all clicking PLAY does is launches the game via Purple anyway?

Just prepping for launch day, and dont wanna have to dowload Purple launcher and make an account etc - even tho I'm getting it on Steam. Ty in advance :)
