There isn't really one itinerary that works for everyone. It depends a lot on how much time you have and what you actually want to see.

For a first trip, a classic route covering Lhasa, Yamdrok Lake, Shigatse, Everest Base Camp and Namtso is a good way to combine cultural sites with the major Himalayan landscapes.

If you enjoy train travel, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is worth considering. Some tours start in Chengdu, continue to Xining, and then take the sleeper train to Lhasa before continuing through Tibet.

For spring travel, Nyingchi and Bomi are a completely different experience, with peach blossoms, forests, rivers, glaciers and snow mountains. Winter travelers can instead look at Laigu Glacier and blue-ice focused routes.

I'd also pay attention to the practical side when comparing tours: what is included in the price, how long you'll spend on the road each day, accommodation, airport/train-station transfers, and how the agency handles arrangements for international visitors.

China Dragon Travel offers both small-group and private customized Tibet tours covering these different routes and travel seasons.

If you're planning Tibet for the first time, the biggest question probably isn't "Which tour is the best?" but rather "Which itinerary actually fits the kind of trip I want?"
