The news of Sivarasa Anojan a Sri Lankan migrant worker in Saudi Arabia been given the death sentence for blasphemy reminded me of the case of Farook Hameed a resident of Ukkadam,Coimbatore.

Here is Farook Hameed in black shirt a sign of rationality and free thought. He once asked his daughter to hold a placard with the saying

'There is no God, There is no God, There is no God at all'

Within a week Islamists ensured that there was Farook in this world.

The details of the case are far more chilling. It was a well established face that the Muslims in his social/friends group were distasified with his apostasy. On a boys trip with friends to Goa when politics was discussed there was large spat between him and few of his friends who held on to extremist views. They were livid to know that Farook regularly posted on social media groups about his criticism of Islamic religious scripture.

A mole was planted by the Islamic group and he posed himself as being an Atheist and gained entry to Farook's more secure and private WhatsApp groups. The photo by his daughter was the last straw.

A call was placed at the middle of the night saying that the mole was in some kind of danger and asking Farook to come. Ever the true friend that he was Farook left to never come back.

A lady widowed and two children who would never know their father again.
