I spent 40 dollars worth of tokens to make 3 line changes and 1 Jenkins command
As title.
1st change is a 2 line config change. But despite I wrote in repo skill that agent should always use shallow copy, it is determined to clone entire repo which leads to the team-lead thinking its dead and spawned more and more agent to try to clone the repo. And each of them pays full price of upfront context.
I asked claude to fix the skill to enforce shallow but guess what, the fix didn't work until the 4th iteration. I'm not sure why it can't write a skill that itself can follow.
Then I asked claude to run a Jenkins command, the command itself is runnable from user but for some reason when claude runs it it gets 4xx error. I suspect it run in sandbox env where vpnless proxy setting didn't propagate there. I ended up running that command myself.
I finally ask claude to create a pr to deploy the newly built image and it started to add random non related comments. I have to tell it 3 times until it fully understand it only needs a image sha change.
In the end, 1 hour of my time and 40 dollars worth of token are wasted. And now I completely lost trust on claude. I just wanted to avoid all the pr merge waiting time / Jenkins building time but it seems to be backfired.
Rant over
