Planting timber and snow bugs?

So apparently we cannot grow timber in deep north? Same goes for pines and fir trees that you would expect to grow here...

Also, when sleeping in deep north, overnight, show accumulates on the roofs. but not on the ground that i've shoveled or dug. I thought show would appear everywhere?

Anyone else experiences these "bugs"?
