Foil + acetone soaked cotton bal+ 5 min= NO STICKY TAB
I’ve cracked the code everyone! After fussing with the gross residue from sticky tabs after press on removal for weeks, I thought back to what the nail techs did at my salon visits. Soaking in oil/acetone/water/soap and any combination of those wasn’t working for me. Anytime I used acetone on the cotton ball to wipe away the sticky tab residue, it just melted down, became extremely messy and used a lot of supplies. Give this a shot if removing left over tab gunk from your natural nails has been an issue:
- Cut aluminum foil into 10 rectangles, one for each finger
- Add acetone to a cotton ball- it doesn’t need to be completely soaked, just dab will do bc it’s going to sit for a while.
- Start with a pinky finger. Place the acetone moistened side of the cotton ball on the sticky tab residue area of your natural nail
- Wrap the foil around the cotton ball to secure it in place. I found that wrapping the foil around lengthwise then folding over the top of the foil to secure the cotton ball from escaping towards the tip works well.
- Perform on the pinkie on the other hand. Keep working from ring fingers to middle fingers to pointer fingers to thumbs so that you can preserve as much dexterity as possible.
- Wait 5 minutes. I readjusted and did mini rotations here and there.
- Pull off the foil/cotton balls. Toss them in the trash. Wash your hands to get rid of any remaining goop.
Please let me know if this works for you or any other tips that can improve this process!!
