Advice regarding Константин Величков metro stop
Hi! I'm visiting Sofia soon and have a question about getting around with luggage. I will be staying at the easyHotel, which is about 60-70m from the Konstantin Velichkov metro station exit.
On Google Maps, the exit closest to the hotel looks like just a long staircase up from the street, and I don't think I can manage a heavy suitcase on stairs. (Or can I? It has wheels). The station's main entrance/underground concourse is supposed to have a lift, but it looks like a long way from the hotel, and there seems to be a lot of heavy arterial traffic to cross.
Could someone very familiar with this area tell me:
-
Is it realistic to use the lift at the main station and then walk to the hotel with a suitcase? Are the sidewalks and crossings okay for rolling luggage, and is it safe to cross the main road there, or would you avoid it?
-
Would a taxi be the better option? If so, what's a fair price to the hotel (from the airport)?
-
Are taxis in Sofia generally reliable? Is there anything I should look for when choosing a company (or apps I should use or avoid) so I don't get overcharged?
Thank you so much for any advice!
