I kept wondering how much time I'd actually spent watching TV. So I built HOYL (Hours of Your Life).

You add the things you've finished, from memory, no dates needed. It fills in the runtime, page count or typical play time for you, then shows your total in hours and days, plus the directors, actors and genres you watch most, which says more about your taste than I thought it would.

My own total came out at a whopping \~2400 hours on movies and tv shows, which is more than 200 free days or about SEVEN MONTHS. I did not expect that and I'm definitely going to cut down my time on entertainment. I'd like to read more instead.

Adding titles and seeing your stats is free, with no limit, but it still costs me money to run. The film and TV data comes from a service I pay for every month, whether anyone signs up or not, and the site's hosting and database cost money too. The AI part costs me for every single profile. So the CA$7 a month pays for all of it, not only the AI. Nobody has to pay, but if you use the site a lot, paying is what keeps it running.

Two things I'd like feedback on: does the landing page make it clear what you get before you sign up, and does the paid part seem worth it?

Also let me know what y'all's total comes out to? It's crazy how much time we spend on entertainment!

PS: Don't mind the 6h10m pill from the screenshot, that's just another mac app I built that tracks the time you spend on different apps and sites. It's called [ManyMin](https://manymin.app/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=launch&utm_content=sideproject)

I built a site that adds up how many hours of your life went into films, TV, books and games. Can't believe how much time I've spent on entertainment throughout my life 🤦‍♂️
