So, so far everyone is against this but I just can’t get it out of my head!
We’re having our wedding at a lodge near Big Bend National Park. It’s very rural out there. So rural that lodging for large groups is hard to come by. The lodge itself has rooms of course but also offers tent camping. My fiancée and I are huge campers. There are few things I love more than camping. I have this vision of getting ready for my wedding in a tent. Like a giant glamping style tent but still a tent. I have 11 bridesmaids plus various relatives that I assume will want to be involved in the getting ready. There are showers and such and I don’t curl my hair or anything. (Though other people in the wedding party will want to) I was planning on doing my own make up, or one of my bridesmaids offered. The wedding will be chill and low key and non-traditional.
I realize maybe it’s kind of crappy to have my bridesmaids suffer through getting ready in a tent when not all of them adore it like I do. I know there’s a big culture of suffering for the bride just because it’s “her big day” or whatever and I don’t really want to be that person. But I don’t think it will be as bad as people think? I mean I think it would be straight up fun and unique but like I said, not everyone in the party is a camper. Having everyone get ready with me is also not like a huge deal for me. It does seem to be a big deal for some of my people though. A few of them have expressed they’ll do it if I want it, but again I don’t want to subject anyone to anything they’ll absolutely hate.
I guess I’m wondering if there’s a rare unicorn out there who has gotten ready for their wedding in a tent lol. I’m also wondering if everyone in the world thinks it’s a horrible idea or if there’s something to my wacky vision.
My other options for getting ready is just a regular old hotel room or a large bunk room with no natural lighting. Neither of those are appealing to me but the general consensus is those are better than a tent.
Thoughts everyone?
