Next Step After Target Training?

Hii. I have a male red rumped for 3 years now. He is very scared of hands since I got him.

Lately we have made a really good progress with target training (which amazed me, I didn’t think he would understand it this easily) So he bravely steps with one foot on my finger to touch the stick for treat and we are at the point where he has started to step up with two feet on the finger (and doesn’t fly away immediately)

My question is, what’s next? Will we ever be able to do step up without the stick at all and if so what’s the best way? Or should I aim for more “tricks“ with the stick just for him to get used to fingers? He still doesn’t want to be near them without a stick and a treat
