AIO about my friend's choices in their social life and should I have made a big deal out of it?
This is only NSFW because of a small detail.
Me (19F)and two of my now ex-best friends (18F and 19F) had been friends for 10-8 years. It got pretty quiet between the 3 of us for a couple years because I was focusing on school and had little time to talk to them since I moved away.
In order to stay in touch, we often played games together and just chat in general. We often called on discord and they invited me into a server, and I did meet some really great people there. But it started to go off when the first friend, we'll call her Alex, started to hang out with a certain group. This was before the second friend was in the server. So me, Alex and 2 others would play games often. We were 16 and 17 at the time, and the two others were 20F and 22M. Nothing super weird was going on, but then I wasnt being invited anymore, and I was fine with it cause school. Whenever I did join, something did feel off. Like, they were really flirty. I thought it was icky cause Alex was a minor. I later learned they were having a polyamorous relationship from someone else, and learnt from the female that Alex lied about her age and thats why the female completely cut ties with Alex.
Fast forward a year, the other friend we'll name Kate is also in the server and we're playing games, yada yada. We end up hanging out with a certain guy, and I'll keep this quick. This guy was engaged and would constantly only hang out with Alex. Even when they met irl, this dude would be hanging with Alex. This dude also made a ton of sexual jokes to her, and also other minors.
Later that year, Alex and Kate started dating and that was nice, great for them. I got into a relationship of my own, very happy indeed.
They start hanging out with these two (23F and 25M). The female is an absolute dick and is known for dating multiple men at the same time without the other knowing (which was eventually outed and she cut ties with most), but both of them would make sexual jokes with Kate and Alex (especially the female) who were both still minors. The female would constantly talk about having a threesome with Alex and Kate. Mind you, the female and male were dating eachother.
We are now all over 18 and they're out partying and I get a notif for Alex's insta story and found out she was hanging out with this girl we'll name Hailey. Hailey used to be a good friend of mine years ago, she had a known bully and I didn't like the bully either. Hailey had correlated this plan to get back at the bully and her non-official boyfriend was faking a relationship with the bully. This went on for ages. The bully, thinking that they were in a relationship ended up sending him a video of her masturbating. The boy then sent it to Hailey, and Hailey thought itd be a great idea to send it to everyone else. Not a fan. Immediately split from her.
I informed Alex, and Alex's response was, "I wasn't there so I don't really care." And honestly that was the point where I just went fuck this, i cant handle you guys and continue to act like this is okay. I ended up chatting to the two of them saying that for someone who's been friends with them for so long, I get little information from them and that i feel left out, that their choices in friends are questionable and id appreciate playing games with just us three (as well as a few other people we knew in real life), Kate just left the group and unfriended me. And Alex hasn't done much to improve. I didn't get mad, or curse or insult, it was a very 'this is whats happening and my opinion, please consider' type thing.
So, did I overreact?
TL;DR am I overreacting by telling my friends their behaviour and choice in friends is wrong and wanting more attention from them and to hang out with them without those people. While all the people they hang out with have cheating habits with their partners, are okay with making sex jokes to minors and spread nudes that arent theirs. Then being rejected.
