Tile the bath sides or not?

We’re having our bathroom remodelled and rather than have plastic bath panels, we wanted the sides of the bath tiling the same as the walls and floor.

The builders are saying it’s a bad idea as if anything happens to the plumbing under the bath they would have to destroy the tiles to access it.

Should we reconsider?
