My husband has slight hearing loss, we can't afford the fancy hearing aid glasses, is there anything budget friendly that I could get him for Christmas?

My husband has some hearing loss in his left ear, he can't do hearing aids as his ears are very sensitive and anything going in them feels painful. He can do glasses as he will wear reading glasses, so I wanted to get him something for Christmas that will just amplify conversations a bit. Everything I look at online seems to focus on the speakers playing music or phone calls, but doesn't say anything about amplifying sound or conversations. I also don't know if he would have to carry around his phone everywhere for them to work (through an app I assume)? He has a cell phone for work emergencies, but he barely ever uses it so I would prefer if there is something out there that just turns on and works kind of like a microphone.
