Raw log exports

So growing up in BC, there were local sawmills everywhere. Basically they're all gone now, yet Crofton docks are loading container ship after container ship with raw, uncut logs.

Serious question here, what can be done through legislation/ trade laws to stop this? Im seeing this Eby election call and wondering why we blissfully ignore this.

Not looking at blame game here, looking for solutions to stop the export of natural resources that should be processed locally across BC (not just lower mainland)
