AIW for not wanting to give my friend a percentage of my pay anymore?

My friend introduced me to an online job when I was going through some financial problems, and honestly, I’m really grateful to him for it. He taught me the work for free and helped me get started.

When I received my first payment, he asked for 20%. We had never agreed that he would get a percentage, but I didn’t argue about it because I felt like he deserved something for helping me.

The problem is that he keeps asking for a percentage every time I get paid.

He knows I’m struggling financially and that I came to him because I needed a way to make money. The thing that bothers me even more is that he actually makes more money than I do, but he still expects me to give him part of my earnings.

I feel stuck because I don’t want to seem ungrateful. He did help me get the job, and I appreciate that. But at the same time, we never agreed that I would keep paying him 20% forever.

I’m starting to feel uncomfortable about the whole situation, but I also feel guilty saying no to him.

Am I wrong for wanting to stop giving him a percentage of my pay?
