Would an under-sink RO really cut down on plastic if I already have a pitcher?
I noticed how much of our recycling bin is just empty water bottles, so I've been looking for a way to buy fewer of them. We already have a pitcher, but it never seems to be full when we need it. An under-sink RO sounds easier, and the Viomi Pure B6W is one of the models in my price range.
My first thought was that fewer bottles would obviously mean less plastic. Then I started thinking about the unit, tubing, replacement filters, and all the packaging that comes with them. Our pitcher still works too, so replacing it now feels a little wasteful.
Has anyone here made a similar switch? Did you wait until the pitcher wore out, or did buying fewer bottles make it worth changing sooner?
