Why do I keep attracting men who only want me physically ?
I’m 25F, 5’7”, hourglass body type, wheatish skin, and honestly, I know I’m attractive. I’m pretty curvy/thick with a small waist, and for the longest time I thought that would make me feel confident.
Instead, it has become one of my biggest insecurities.
It feels like 99% of the men who approach me are interested in sleeping with me. They’ll compliment my body, flirt with me, pursue me intensely, but eventually I realise they don’t actually want to know me. They want access to my body.
And after experiencing this repeatedly, I’ve started hating the very thing I used to like about myself.
The worst part is that I genuinely crave love. Like, real love. I want emotional intimacy, friendship, connection, affection, loyalty, and that feeling of being genuinely chosen by someone. I want a relationship where we’re obsessed with each other in a healthy way where we actually want to be around each other, know each other, and build something together.
But somehow, I keep ending up with men who are emotionally unavailable.
I’ve tried giving chances to men who tell me they love me, thinking maybe I’m being too quick to judge or maybe I should look beyond attraction and give someone a chance. I don’t really care about money, status, or whether someone is conventionally handsome. I’m actually quite logical about relationships. I care much more about how someone treats me and whether we genuinely connect.
And yet, somehow, I keep getting hurt.
I’m also too sweet. I give people the benefit of the doubt. I understand their situations. I forgive easily. I try to communicate instead of walking away. And sometimes I genuinely hate this part of myself because it feels like people take advantage of it.
What confuses me even more is that I seem to be attracted to the opposite kind of woman. The women who are more detached, toxic, or emotionally unavailable seem to be the ones these men chase seriously, while I’m sitting here wondering why being caring, loyal and emotionally available isn’t enough.
At this point, I’m starting to wonder if I’m attracting the wrong people because of the energy I give off, or if I’m simply choosing the wrong people because I keep giving chances to emotionally unavailable men.
