Strange New Worlds Overeliance Using Time Travel
I really enjoyed Strange New Worlds during the first two seasons. Seasons 3 and 4 are a mixed bag. The last episode of this season was a time travel heavy story. I realized we already had a time travel episode this season, and considering the already condensed seasons, I feel the show is focusing too much on time travel stories.
TOS had 5 episodes dealing with time travel out of 80. Strange New Worlds has done the same amount, 5, in half the amount of total episodes at 40... and if you include Batel's story being a time travel story as well, that number goes up.
We have 6 more episodes left of the show. What do you think the chances they will do yet another time travel story? I feel it's more than likely at this point.
I guess my point is, I think the show is at a detriment using time travel as a plot device. It makes me think the writers can't come up with anything better.
Not to say these episodes are bad, I liked most of them, I just thought they should have been more creative in their use of storytelling rather than use the overdone trope of "we can't think of anything better, so time travel!"
