How did you actually figure out which area of biotech you wanted to work in?
I’m a student trying to understand the biotech industry better, and I feel like there are way too many directions you can go in — research, diagnostics, bioinformatics, pharma, clinical trials, biotech startups, etc.
For people currently working/studying in biotech:
How did you decide which area was actually right for you?
Was it something you discovered during college, an internship, a particular project, or did you just fall into it?
And looking back, is there anything you wish you had explored earlier?
Would love to hear how people actually ended up where they are rather than the usual “here are 10 biotech career paths” advice.
