My gf really wants this ring (wedding band) and a simpler 1.3 ct oval cut diamond engagement ring to go in between.

We went to a local jeweler - It was about $2500 for this with lab grown diamonds ($3400 for natural). He actually heavily steered us toward a lab grown engagement ring stone too, quoting a G 1.3 ct natrual at \~$5000, whereas an equivalent lab grown at \~$900. He gave a great sales pitch: molecularly equivalent, indistinguishable, socially responsible, save that money for newly wed stuff... I was sold, but alas, my gf wants to know her ring is worth something, so she said lab grown is fine with the pictured wedding band. He quoted us $7000 for both the pictured in lab grown and the 1.3 ct engagement ring.

My question is - A google image search shows several jewelers carry this wedding band. Should I treat this like buying a house and go to a few to get the lowest price? Someone told me these shops usually don't negotiate.

She actually liked a few more that this shop displayed on their web site, but we were suprised to hear they can't order floor models of these into their shop - You kind of just have to buy those without trying them on, but they do offer a wax mold to try, but only after you've paid for it. Then I believe if you change your mind, that turns into store credit. I thought they'd be able to get these in, to "borrow" floor models from their fabricators to show customers, if even for a shipping fee.

Thanks
