Accidentally withdrew PayPal funds to a closed bank account

I accidentally withdrew a large amount of money from my PayPal balance to an old bank account that was closed about a year ago. PayPal already shows the withdrawal as completed.

Has this happened to anyone else? Did the bank automatically reject the transfer and return the money to PayPal? How long did it take, and did you need to ask PayPal to trace the withdrawal?
