File Arbor: the file organizer I built because File Juggler is Windows-only
My Downloads folder had turned into a write-only archive - I'd save something, never find it again, and every couple of weeks I'd sit there dragging files into folders by hand. File Juggler and DropIt solve this on Windows, but I work on a Mac too and didn't want to keep the same rules in two different apps. So I built File Arbor to run the same rules on both.
What it does: you set rules once, it keeps the folders sorted.
**•** Watches any folder (Downloads, Desktop, Documents) at the same time
**•** Conditions: extension, name contains/starts/ends, regex, size, age, and file content - it can read inside PDFs, DOCX and plain text
**•** Negative conditions too, e.g. "everything except invoices"
**•** Actions: move, send to Recycle Bin, delete, run a command
**•** Auto Mode sorts files the moment they land, or you can keep it manual
**•** Destination paths take tokens: Downloads/<Year>/<MonthName>, and EXIF ones like <Camera>, <ISO>, <FocalLength> if you sort photos
**•** Runs entirely on your machine. No account, no cloud, no telemetry.
**•** Windows 10+ and macOS 10.15+.
Free: 1 folder, 2 rules, extension filter only, manual mode. Pro: $24.99 one-time, lifetime updates, 30-day refund.
What it does NOT do, so nobody buys it for the wrong reason:
**•** no renaming action
**•** no duplicate finder
**•** no syncing rules between machines
**•** no AI categorisation
Happy to answer anything, and genuinely interested in what rules people would want that it can't express yet.
