Ways for alumni to support students organizing against Cornell's complacency in regards to sexual assault?
In light of the really horrifying news about Cornell's essential coverup of the gang rape that took place in 2024, I wanted to see if there are any student groups on campus currently organizing against these issues on campus + if there are ways for alumni to offer support? The problem of Greek Life is so severe at Cornell; I was a student when Antonio Tsialas was hazed and drowned in a gorge and was so distrubed by Cornell, CUPD, and the Ithaca police department's subsequent response and inability to hold the frat members responsible accountable. During my time here, I knew of so many fellow women students who experienced assault and were severely failed by Cornell's inability to hold the perpetrators accountable. Cornell has a clear track record of protecting, condoning, and abetting perpetrators of abuse and it has been going on for far too long - enough is enough. I want to see if there are student groups on campus who have planned any coordinated actions for alumni, such as emailing or calling the university to demand change? Would love to support any student organizing that's currently taking place, or any alumni groups who are working on a coordinated response. I've been a bit out of the Cornell loop so not sure which groups are actively responding to this issue, and would be interested in learning more about what alumni can do to support.
