Which is safer for long-term mosquito bites prevention: topical picaridin or pyrethroid plug-ins?
My baby gets really big local reactions to mosquito bites, and we live somewhere where dengue is a real concern.
Two pediatricians gave me different advice. One prefers picaridin on the skin, while the other is comfortable with an electric plug-in repellent in the bedroom.
I’m honestly a little worried about repeated exposure either way. Picaridin can be absorbed through the skin, while plug-ins mean inhaling pyrethroids for hours.
Is there good evidence on the long-term safety of either one in babies or young children? I’m mostly worried about whether using either of these regularly could cause problems over time.
