Hello,

Yesterday was my first delivery order, it was a bundle for around $8 for 6 miles (not great but it’s my first order). First restaurant was one of those virtual kitchens. where you show your screen to the tablet and the food comes out of a locker. The name of the restaurant was called something but the building said something else. Strange, but a dasher YouTuber did it before so I had some knowledge about it.

Next was McDonald’s, and this is where everything fell apart. I go thro Drive Thru (was not supposed to do that but lesson learned), customer says they don’t have that order. I thought she might have not looked or she was being dense because I didn’t go in like I was supposed to. No worries, I’ll go in and figure it out.

I go up to the counter. Dash tablet says a dasher has arrived (how does it know that?), so I assumed it was me. because it showed my customer’s name, meaning her order is still in the system. I told the cashier I’m picking up for my customer. The cashier says “That order has already been picked up.”

???

”I asked if he can remake it because that’s what the app is telling me to do, he responds with “well it’s already been remade twice already.” How??? I look at DoorDash to see wayt I’m supposed to do and it says either reorder it manually, or cancel and not get paid. Neither of those were an option because I didn’t set up my red card with Apple wallet and I thought the app was locked until I finished my dash (it’s been figured out now but it’s too late lol). Manager tells me the customer has to call the store, so I go sit down and figure this out.

When I talked to the customer, she still hasn’t gotten her food, so I tell her to call the store. i wait for her, meanwhile the first order is still in the car getting colder and colder, but I have to get this done bc they won’t send me the address anyways. Customer says “they’re telling me to wait because you’re there” but they told me to tell you to call?? I go back to the counter, and the manager, no joke, says “Girl, you’re still here?” I ignore it and tell him what the customer says, and he’s like “Just cancel it 🙄” and I’m over here trying to tell him that if I cancel it I literally won’t get paid even though I drove all the way over here, and his response was “Well you’re gonna stress yourself out more than you already are, but I can’t give you any food” ??? You’re not giving me food, you’re giving me my customers delivery. Overall rude and dismissive, and super unprofessional.

I ended up leaving and talking to DoorDash support. They unassigned me with partial pay (so still ultimately a waste of gas) and the first guy got his cold order. This was absolutely horrible, plus my customer still didn’t her McDonalds I don’t think. Is there any way to block stores? How can I avoid this in the future? I’m never taking an order like this again, and definitely not going back to that McDonalds.

What happened here?
