Dealing with a disagreement
I'm back to recovery after a relapse and I'll have 90 days tomorrow. I left AA and went to smart recovery because I don't agree with a lot of the concepts of the program, but im giving it another try. I haven't had any issues yet and I've already grown a lot since being back. But today I was telling my sponsor I want going to make it to a business meeting tomorrow (a meeting that's not my home group) because I had a really intense week and I know if I go I'll just be grumpy. She told me to read 417 about grumpiness. Im a little confused, am I to interpret that as accepting my feelings of being tired and needing to rest? I feel like she's trying to tell me I should change my feelings to be more accepting of the people in the business meeting when it really has nothing to do with that, proper self care would be to stay at home and rest.
The other issue I have with that part is this part
When I am disturbed, it is because I find some
person, place, thing, or situation – some face of my life – unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity
until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this
moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God’s world by mistake
There is a number of things that have happened to me in my life that I know my higher power did not plan for me, and I'm comfortable not having an answer why bad things happened to me.
Anyway, long story short. Im curious how other people handle having concepts from their sponsor they don't believe. Is it better to have a conversation about it or just accept people have different beliefs and just let it go.
