How do you guys reduce the number of joins in a complex SQL query?
When you’re dealing with a SQL query that has a lot of JOINs, it can get pretty hard to understand and maintain, and sometimes it can affect performance too.
How do you guys usually handle this? Is there any way you try to reduce the number of JOINs without changing the result?
Do you usually restructure the query/data model, use CTEs or subqueries, pre-aggregate data, create views/materialized views, or even de-normalize some tables?
Or do you guys just leave the JOINs as they are if the execution plan looks good?
Any go-to tricks to make it less messy? IDK, curious how you guys handle this in real projects.
