Needing replacement ID for someone I have POA for

My mother had late stage dementia, is immobile and in assisted living/hospice. I have financial/legal POA for her. I have also recently misplaced the wallet I kept my mother’s SS card, driver license in. After initial ripping apart of the house to try and find it unsuccessfully I figured while I continue to search for it the next plan of action is to start working on replacing the 2 items.
I have made an appt with the dmv next week but was wondering if anyone has had to deal with a similar situation and knows what the process is?
