Slave’s dilemma: narcissistic parents or corporate job until 70?
Hello, I’m in the same situation as many here: putting up with family because of inheritance. I’m in my 30s and have been able to move out, so I've less contact and it’s a bit easier than it was, however I’m still financially dependent on them because even though I have a degree and work full-time I can’t afford a home and they help me with rent (tiny one, couldn't really downsize for cheaper one if I cut them off).
I see people here saying an inheritance is never guaranteed and not worth sacrificing your mental health... and it's true! But... work is horrible and drains your health too! It's the two things that can make your life a living hell, and if your parents have less years left than the 40 years you have to keep working underpaid and 6 days a week if renounce the inheritance... How are you suposed to not become crazy?
