Recently picked up the 8778 Border Ambush set in a bundle so thought I'd share a few photos and thoughts. I know KK2 isn't the most beloved of themes but I think this is a decent little build.

Unfortunately I am missing the scorpion knight minifigure but Santis is ready for action.

I grew up with KK2 sets and honestly this was a really nice little build. Definitely a reminder of simpler times. The play features are good, including the classic trap door operated by a stick pull-out, and the thumb-operated spring catapult which is all over this era of Lego. The chromed-out key is also very 2000s. The scorpions made me pure nostalgic - those need to make a comeback.

The stairs are definitely "old school", with plates poking out from bricks, but the simple features really make the set. The rope bridge is actually a really cool design and wouldn't look out of place on a modern set in my opinion.

Overall I think it's exactly the calibre of set that just doesn't exist anymore - 2 minifigs, a decent sized build, instructions with a comic strip in the back - it's a lot of things that don't exist anymore, and maybe some things that should.

Thoughts on this? I'm thinking I will try to track down the missing minifigure, or sell it as incomplete. I have the box and instructions.
