Need some help with decisions

So i’ve got this 11 year old macbook and i think it has 8 GB ram inside of it. I want to flash a drive and then like turn the mac into linux. I think want to go with mint. So which desktop environment can be best for that old macbook? (XFCE, Cinnamon or MATE?) thanks for helping
