Marriage-Based AOS Timeline – Milwaukee Field Office – I-130 Approved After Interview / I-485 RFE Cancelled

Just wanted to give anyone timelines and help out during times of uncertainty.

Field Office: Milwaukee, WI
Adjustment type: Marriage-based AOS

Timeline:

• Early June 2026: I-130, I-485, I-765 and I-131 filed concurrently. I-693 medical included with the original filing.
• July 2026: Biometrics completed.
• August 3, 2026: Interview was scheduled.
• September 10, 2026: I-130/I-485 interview at the Milwaukee Field Office.
• At the end of the interview, the officer asked for one additional piece of educational documentation. Nothing else was requested.
• My attorney mailed the requested document directly to the field office after the interview.
• Tracking later confirmed that the package was delivered and signed for.
• September 24, 2026: I-485 status changed to “Cancellation Notice for Request for Additional Evidence.”
• September 25, 2026: I-130 changed to “Case Approved.”
• I-485: Still pending as of this post.

I was initially confused/worried about the “Cancellation Notice for Request for Additional Evidence” update because I never actually received an RFE. My attorney explained that USCIS will sometimes cancel an RFE when they already received the information they needed, so the assumption is that the field office received the document we mailed and no longer needed to issue the planned RFE.

Obviously every case is different, and I’m still waiting on the I-485 decision.

The I-130 being approved the following day was definitely encouraging.
