Extremely low fps on a good pc [java]

I am playing the 1.26.3 version of Minecraft on my pc (16x amd ryzen 7 7800x3d 8core, Nvidia rtx 2070 super, 32gb of ddr5 on 1080p) and my fps are around 25-40 even though I had no problem with reaching 240+ not even a year ago

I have my render distance set to 8 and vsync is turned off, what else could be the problem and how can I get these lost fps back?
