For those who went from vented to ventless dryer, how did you cover up the holes left behind by the duct? (Bonus points if u r a renter) also sorry in advance for long ass post x.x

Hi all it’s me again lool. I want To thank everyone for taking time to reply to my last post about the Miele T1 dryer. i wanted now advice for those of you who transitioned into a ventless dryer, what you did to cover up the holes left behind by the duct , both inside and outside. Specifically, i am looking for solutions that are not permanent but long-term.

in my case , I am a renter. However, I know if I explained to my landlord that I want to do a ventless dryer, they would open to considering it. Especially because a ventless dryer can be more energy efficient and therefore cost saving. But I think I will need to explain to them the process of covering up the external duct hole since I won’t be using the vent anymore.

so I am looking for a long-term solution (like maybe 5-6 yrs) but not a permanent one because I would want to make sure the vent is still useable for whoever comes after me (I plan on leaving the machine behind but in case they have their own and its ventless).

from the internet, Ive seen a myriad of solutions: for the interior hole in the laundry room, to stuff it with fiber glass ; to put a plastic bag and fill it with spray foam, to put a simple cover on it. Some people didn’t do anything to the back hole, but I am scared about that because of the risk of critters/rodents crawling into it, or potentially Anything else.

for the exterior hole, I’ve seen people use a “ magnetic cover” what is your experiences with this if you did this? is it easy to remove?(im assuming so bc it looks like it’s just screwed into place over the vent).

my worry also is that rats can chew threw anything , so is it crazy to also stuff steel wool on both ends of the holes ?

my other concern is i need to find where the exterior hole is for my specific dryer duct and I live in a building of 8 units but I guess that would be solved when I speak to my landlord, although I still would appreciate knowing the logistics to see if I’m just way in over my head at this point and maybe I should just stick to a vented dryer since it will be easy to set up and someone is selling an older t 1405 dryer in my area !

sorry for this long ass post but I would really appreciate your continued insights! Thanks!!!
