Hot take! I hate how most Zutara fanfics make their connection less emotional and more lustful

I generally hate to use the word lustful because it sounds so puritanical, there isn’t anything inherently wrong with sex. It’s just that when I’m reading the fanfics, the emotional aspect of Zutara and the heart of why those two characters are great for each other gets lost. It often ends up being “soft girl x bad boy” stereotype that is Zutara truthers get criticized for. I don’t know, I just feel like the whole smutty “bad boy x good girl, it feels so wrong but it feels so right thing” is just as shallow and one note as Kataang. We do a huge disservice to the characters when we neglect the aspect of their relationship that is two people who have different backgrounds and experiences end up being the missing puzzle pieces to each others needs. I feel like katara is the avenue through Zuko is able to redeem himself and prove that he is capable of good things and being able to build healthy and loving connections, and Zuko provides katara the catharsis that she so desperately needs for her grieving process. Like, they need to SEE each otherrrr

TLDR: there are people who are only Zutarians because of the optics and not the amazing character arcs that make the characters perfect for each other.
