Did you know there are only 5 steps to jumping a car battery? If you're stuck because of a dead battery, here's what you need to know:

**How to Jump Start a Car**

1. **Park and Prepare**: Park the vehicles close enough for the jumper cables to reach without allowing them to touch. Turn both vehicles off, engage the parking brakes, and locate each battery.
2. **Connect the Jumper Cables**: Attach the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery, then connect the other red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the working battery. Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the working battery, then attach the remaining black clamp to an unpainted metal surface on the disabled vehicle.
3. **Start the Vehicles**: Start the vehicle with the good battery first, then attempt to start the vehicle with the dead battery. If it doesn't start immediately, leave the cables connected for a few minutes before trying again.
4. **Remove the Jumper Cables**: Disconnect the cables in the reverse order they were attached. Remove the black clamp from the disabled vehicle first, followed by the working battery, then remove the red clamps from both batteries.
5. **Let the Vehicle Run**: Allow the vehicle to idle for several minutes or drive for at least 15 minutes so the battery can begin recharging. If the battery won't hold a charge, it may need to be replaced.
