Is there an explanation for this mysterious iPhone ding?

I hear the iPhone notification ding randomly and it’s not my phone. I can’t tell if I’m losing my mind or if this is actually happening. Is it being added to the background audio of tv/radio/youtube etc?

Sometimes I assume that the walls must be thin wherever I’m at, sometimes I assume it’s something outside that sounds similar, or that it’s in the background of whatever I’m listening to.

I personally hate needing to have a phone. Nothing annoys me more or gives me the same level of unease than my cellphone. This dinging happens maybe a few times a day max, some days i don’t hear it. It immediately turns my attention away from whatever I was doing & annoys the fuck out of me.

My mom hears it too, but I don’t know that we’ve heard the same thing at the same time while together. She thinks it’s in the background of tv commercials. I don’t think she hears it as regularly as I do. I rarely watch tv
